Motorcyclist Killed in Downtown Los Angeles Motorcycle Accident

A motorcyclist was killed early this morning in a Los Angeles motorcycle accident on the Harbor Freeway. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles motorcycle crash occurred at about 3:45 in the morning, south of downtown on the Harbor Freeway north, near Adams Blvd.

The California Highway Patrol is in charge of investigating the cause of the motorcycle accident in Los Angeles. One possible cause was apparently that a driver may have been attempting to avoid hitting a mattress which was on the freeway.

Police Officer Injured in Glendale Motorcycle Accident

This morning, a Glendale police officer was injured in a Glendale motorcycle accident. According to the Los Angeles Times, the motorcycle officer was apparently hit by a Mercedes that was coming out of a driveway.

Matt Bolton is the Glendale police officer who was hit by the car. Officer Bolton sustained motorcycle accident injuries, but the extent of those injuries is currently unknown.

SUV Hits a Home in South Los Angeles Accident

This morning the driver of a sports utility vehicle was arrested after he crashed into a home in a South Los Angeles accident. The car accident in South Los Angeles occurred before 8:00 a.m. and the driver allegedly tried to run away from the scene. According to the Los Angeles Times, the driver tried to use a skateboard as a weapon to fend off the witnesses who had tried to chase after him after the South Los Angeles car accident.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, there was an injury to a pedestrian, who had to be taken to the hospital. How those injuries occurred or the severity of the injuries to the pedestrian are unknown at this time. It is possible that the pedestrian was struck by the SUV before it collided with the house.

Sheriff Deputy Injured in Mission Viejo Motorcycle Accident

A Mission Viejo motorcycle accident resulted in minor injuries to a Sheriff Deputy from Orange County. According to the Los Angeles Times, the motorcycle accident in Mission Viejo occurred when the deputy, who was on duty at the time, swerved to try not to collide with a Toyota Camry, which was stopped at a light. The deputy was unable to avoid the Camry and struck the rear of the car.

The impact from the Mission Viejo motorcycle collision caused the deputy to be ejected from the motorcycle. Fortunately, the deputy’s injuries were reported as only minor. He was transported to Mission Hospital where a leg injury was diagnosed and treated. The driver of the Camry did not apparently suffer any injuries.

Driver Killed in Santa Clarita Big Rig Truck Accident

The driver of a big rig truck was killed after the truck overturned in a Santa Clarita truck accident. The Los Angeles Times reports that the big rig truck accident in Santa Clarita occurred on the 5 Freeway. The Santa Clarita truck crash left a fuel spill over many lanes of the 5 Freeway.

The California Highway Patrol claimed that the truck driver passed away at the scene of the Santa Clarita big rig truck accident. There were no immediate reports of what caused this California truck accident death and if any other vehicles were involved.

Woodland Hills Man Arrested After Malibu Car Accident Injuries

A Woodland Hills man was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly causing a Malibu car accident. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Malibu accident happened on Pacific Coast Highway, after two L.A. County Sheriff deputies had just returned to their squad car from a sweep of the beach. Once in the car, the man, Mark Liebrecht, who was arrested for driving under the influence, apparently rear ended the stopped police car and pushed it down an embankment and into the ocean.

The car accident in Malibu resulted in injuries to the two sheriff deputies, who were rescued by fire personnel. The Malibu rear end car accident injuries included a serious lumbar injury to one of the officers, while the other officer sustained a shoulder injury as well as an injured clavicle.

Two Motorcycle Riders Killed in Silverado Canyon Motorcycle Accident

A motorcycle accident in Silverado Canyon caused the death of both the driver and passenger on the motorcycle. According to the Los Angeles Times, the motorcycle crash occurred when the motorcycle slid down an embankment and crashed into trees off the road.

The driver of the motorcycle, Donn LaVigne, was from Anaheim Hills, California. The woman passenger on the motorcycle who was also killed in the California motorcycle accident has not yet been identified by the California Highway Patrol.

Warning: Drunk Driving Checkpoints Set Up to Prevent Los Angeles Accidents

Starting this weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department, in an effort to prevent Los Angeles drunk driving accidents and injuries, will be setting up checkpoints throughout the city. The checkpoints, designed to catch drunk drivers before they are in a Los Angeles car accident, will be up from 8pm until 2am and this particular program will go through the Labor Day extended weekend.

According to the Los Angeles Times, there will be 100 police agencies involved and the checkpoints will be spread out throughout the Los Angeles area.

The L.A. Times cites the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which provides that in 2009, there were 10,839 accident deaths in car and motorcycle accidents where a driver was legally intoxicated. The most common age group for these fatalities was 21 through 24 years old.

No Injuries Reported in Artesia Accident

Early this morning there was an Artesia car accident in which a sports utility vehicle, which was allegedly stolen by a boy, crashed into a home. Fortunately, although the home has been red tagged, which means that it is unsafe to enter, there were no injuries reported in the car accident in Artesia.

According to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, the boy, who has not been identified, was arrested, while a passenger in the SUV was not arrested. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the SUV first crashed through an exterior fence, then walls, before hitting the house. The force of the impact in the Artesia accident, or the continuation of the driving, led to the front door ending up all the way at the back area of the house.

Worker Crushed to Death in El Sereno, California Accident

Rigoberto Yanez, a fifty seven year old man from Los Angeles, California, was killed today when a gate collapsed on him in a tragic work accident in Sereno. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office, Yanez was working at the Chimentis Baking Company early this morning when the gate apparently came off of the track and fell onto him, crushing him to death.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Cal/OSHA, the Division of Occupational Safety and Health, which strives to protect workers and the general public from dangerous conditions and safety hazards, is investigating this California wrongful death incident.
