Around 5:30 a.m. at a crosswalk in downtown Los Angeles, a 67-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a white SUV in a tragic Los Angeles wrongful death hit and run accident. According to ABC 7 News, after hitting the man while he crossed the street, the driver drove off.

The driver of the white SUV has not yet been located, but police believe the car may have some damage to the front hood. They ask anyone with information about the fatal accident to contact them immediately. It is not yet known if speed or DUI were factors in causing the accident. Investigators are searching surveillance video in the area in an attempt to get more information about this Los Angeles wrongful death accident.  Continue Reading

We love dogs and all animals.  Many people certainly love their dogs. It is important to remember that any dog can bite, and our dog bite lawyers have seen serious dog bite injuries caused by all types and sizes of dogs.

Under California law, dog owners are strictly liable if their dog bites someone. This means if a dog bites another person, the owner is liable for that person’s injuries even if the owner did nothing wrong and the dog has never bitten anyone before. There are two limits to this liability: first, you can’t provoke the dog, and second, you must either be in a public place or lawfully on private land. According to ABC 7 News, a woman killed in a Los Angeles wrongful death accident when the Uber car she was riding in was hit by what is believed to have been a bullet from a gang-related shooting.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials responded to the shooting around 10:15 p.m. Three people, including the driver, were in the Uber. They heard gunshots, and then the vehicle was hit. The victim, a woman in her 30s, was sitting in the passenger seat when she was shot in the head. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, buy died shortly thereafter. Continue Reading

California is currently in a state of emergency because of fires burning throughout the state. On the morning of August 8, 2018, a 51-year-old man, Forrest Gordon Clark, was arrested at his home in connection with the large forest fire in the Cleveland National forest, that has burned over 18,000 acres. According to ABC 7 News, the Orange County fire authority became suspicious of Clark when they discovered the origin of the fire was near the cabin he owns. So far, no one has been injured but many cabins and homes have burned, and firefighters fear more structures could be in harm’s way.

Currently, investigators believe the fire was an intentional act. They have been gathering evidence to support this claim. For example, the fire originated near Clark’s cabin, and of the 14 cabins in the area, Clark’s is the only one still standing. Clark also sent an email to the volunteer fire chief last week warning, “This place will burn” after a dispute with his neighbors.

According to the The Patriot, the man believed to have killed a Long Beach Fire Captain was found dead in the hospital jail ward at Los Angeles County – USC Medical Center.  You may recall that on June 25, 2018, Thomas Man Kim, age 77, allegedly shot Captain Dave Rosa, a Long Beach Fire Captain, who was responding to a purported explosion and fire at the Covenant Manor Senior Living Facility in the 600 block of East Fourth Street.  Kim was a resident of the facility at the time of the explosion and fire.

Kim allegedly created the explosion to try to kill his neighbor with whom he allegedly was feuding.  When the police and firefighters arrived, Kim became scared and began shooting at these first responders, killing Captain Rosa and injuring another firefighter who fortunately survived.  Continue Reading

Around noon on August 3rd, two drivers died, and a bicyclist was injured in a Malibu car accident. According to ABC 7 News, the car accident occurred between a grey Mercury minivan and a red Dodge Ram pickup truck. The minivan was driving west on the Pacific Coast Highway when it crashed through the median and hit the red pickup truck traveling eastbound. Witnesses said the scene looked like an explosion as the two cars collided head-on.

The Los Angeles County Fire department responded to the car accident scene and pronounced both male drivers dead at the scene. A nearby bicyclist, who was apparently hit by a wheel that came off the pick-up truck, was transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.  Continue Reading

According to The Daily Bulletin, a woman was seriously injured when she was struck by a train in Jurupa Valley. The woman was horseback riding near Van Buren Boulevard and Limonite Avenue when she was hit by the train. Officials described the woman as in her 20s. Apparently, she was riding her horse near the tracks around 5:30 p.m. when she was hit by the passing train. She was rushed to the hospital for serious injuries and immediately underwent surgery.

Investigators are looking into what may have happened in this train accident. They hope to determine the exact cause of the accident. They have asked anyone with information on the accident to call the Jurupa Valley sheriff’s station at 951-955-2600.  Continue Reading

A Los Angeles car accident caused injuries to Oscar-winning actress Linda Hunt. Hunt famously won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1983 for playing a male character, Billy Kwan, in “The Year of Living Dangerously.” According to CBS Los Angeles, the car accident occurred while the actress was driving in Hollywood.

The news reported that the 73-year-old actress, more recently a star in “NCIS: Los Angeles,” was driving in a black BMW SUV and making a left-hand turn. The black BMW SUV collided with a car and another SUV in the intersection.

Hunt was immediately taken to the hospital, though the severity of her injuries was not yet known. The other drivers in the incident also suffered minor injuries. Officers are still investigating the exact circumstances of the collision to determine who caused the crash.   Continue Reading

According to ABC 7 News, just before 4 a.m. on June 28, 2018, on the 5 Freeway in Santa Ana, a driver of a Jaguar sedan crashed head-on into a motorcyclist. The Santa Ana motorcycle accident killed both the Jaguar driver and the motorcyclist on impact.

The Jaguar driver, who caused the collision, was driving in the wrong direction on the freeway—travelling southbound while in the northbound carpool lane. Officers reported that the vehicles immediately burst into flames. The accident mangled the motorcyclist’s body, making it “one of the worst [accidents] in a while.” The northbound freeway was closed for hours.

Around 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2018, a driver slammed into another car causing a serious Los Angeles rollover car accident. According to news reports, the driver that caused the rollover crash was speeding in the Northridge area in an attempt to flee a previous crash that he caused just up the road on the same street. In his attempt to flee the first crash, he ran a red light and crashed into another car, causing the car to roll.

The car involved in the rollover contained six passengers. All of those in the vehicle were hurt, including a 7-year-old child, and were rushed to the hospital. The condition of these Los Angeles car accident victims was not immediately known.  Continue Reading
