This morning a multi-car freeway accident in Woodland Hills snarled traffic on the 101 freeway for some commuters. The Woodland Hills car accident, which appeared to involve at least four vehicles, occurred between De Soto and Canoga Avenue.
It was not initially clear if injuries were caused by the car accident in Woodland Hills, but some drivers remained in their vehicles waiting for emergency responders while other people involved in the accident were walking around the shoulder of the freeway, presumably to check on other drivers and exchange information.
It is very important that, after a freeway accident, drivers and passengers of the vehicles involved not take unnecessary safety risks. If possible, and the vehicles are drivable after the car accident, drivers should try to exit the freeway at the first available exit, or, if that is not possible, try to make sure to pull over as much as possible onto the shoulder, as to not interfere with passing cars, which can lead to further accidents and injuries.
People must remember that other drivers are often distracted by an accident and may not be paying the most attention to the road in front of them. For this reason, it is very dangerous to walk around on the freeway to exchange information with other drivers and should be avoided until emergency personnel advise that it is safe. If possible, those who are injured in a Woodland Hills accident should call 911 and wait in a safe location until emergency responders arrive. Even if there are no injuries, calling 911 may be necessary in order to safely exchange information with the other drivers involved in the accident in Woodland Hills.
