Car Crash Near Inglewood Fire Station Leaves 2 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured

A car accident at 108th Street and Crenshaw Boulevard in Inglewood, across from the fire station, has resulted in the deaths of two people, and serious injuries of another. Around 9:25 a.m., on May 10, 2018, a fire fighter working at the station heard the crash and rushed to help. Both cars ignited, engulfing the vehicles in flames.

The Los Angeles Daily News reported that “the firefighter and passersby pulled two people from one of the cars,” but both died at the scene. The driver of the other car was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.  The accident is under investigation, but reports from the scene suggest that high speeds may have contributed to the accident—the cars ended up 200 feet away from each other after the initial impact.

Far too often, car accidents like this one lead to the wrongful death of a beloved family member. Surviving family members are left to handle the unexpected financial burden that can occur in these instances. However, depending on the circumstances, a California wrongful death case may be an option to help provide financial compensation.

In a wrongful death case, the key is determining who was at fault for the accident and whether they were negligent. While fault has not yet been determined in this case, if it is discovered that the driver that’s at fault was driving recklessly, was intoxicated, or was negligent in any other manner which directly resulted in the accident, then a wrongful death claim could be made against the driver. If the driver at fault died in the accident, a claim can be made against the driver’s estate.
