Myth: Personal injury lawyers have no ethics.
We hold our firm to the highest ethical and moral standards. If someone wants to make a fake accident, or set up a false insurance claim, we are not the firm to call. We believe that as lawyers, members of the California State Bar, we have a duty to do what is right and help our clients in every legal way possible. We are not the only firm that operates this way. We have many friends, colleagues and associates in the industry who strive to help people the right way. We know that cutting corners or acting unscrupulously can have a very short term benefit, but we are not doing this for the short term. In the long term, all our clients benefit because they have lawyers who they can trust. However, it is not just that. Our adversaries know that we pursue honest, legitimate claims, and that helps us obtain the best settlements possible for our clients. Insurance companies know which attorneys are honest and which attorneys are running scams. Our reputation gets us the best possible results. We have been around for over 40 years and our reputation is something we hold dear.
There are personal injury lawyers who are unscrupulous. There divorce lawyers who are unscrupulous. There are mechanics that are unscrupulous. There are doctors and teachers who are unscrupulous. No particular field or profession is immune to this problem. It is important that there are regulating authorities, like the California State Bar, who have a duty to do their best to weed out those who are unscrupulous.
There is a recent trend we’ve seen from some California personal injury law firms who are advertising on television. They are advertising that they will review a case for a client that is already represented by another lawyer. Sometimes you cannot watch an episode of any tv show without seeing multiple commercials like this. While it may sound nice, people are hearing that this firm offers a free case review, it is nothing of the sort. This is a guise by these firms to try to poach cases away from other lawyers. Even if the current attorney is doing a fine job on a case, the television commercial firm may make an unreasonable promise to people, in order to get them to change firms to their firm. Many unsuspecting people don’t even realize that many of the firms advertising on television do not have the best reputations in the industry. Not only that, but many of them have so many cases coming in from their television ads that their clients do not receive the personal attention from their attorney that they deserve.
We believe that seriously injured clients and the families of wrongful death victims deserve close, personal attention from their California personal injury and wrongful death lawyer. We are never too busy for our clients and will always fight to obtain the best results for our clients. If you are injured, or your family member is killed by the wrongful actions of another, you need an ethical, respected lawyer you can trust, not a face from television commercials. We give our clients the best help possible and always offer a free consultation.
