San Bernardino Bus Crash Leaves 7 Injured

A San Bernardino bus crash recently occurred when an OmniTrans bus collided with a car near Sierra Way and Base Line street around 5:30 p.m. According to The Press Enterprise, it appears that “the bus was driving east on Base Line Street when a car that was driving west on the same road veered into the path of the bus.”

The resulting crash left a person in the car with life-threatening injuries—fire fighters had to work to extricate this person who was then rushed to the Loma Linda University Medical Center. Six passengers on the bus also suffered injuries and were taken by ambulance to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Even though it seems as if the driver of the car may have been responsible for this San Bernardino bus accident, authorities are still investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident. In a case like this one, it will be very important for the injured parties to get in touch with an experienced San Bernardino personal injury attorney in order to get compensation for their injuries.

When an injury causing accident involves a bus, it is important to know how that impacts those injured in the accident. A bus, as a common carrier, owes a higher than normal duty of care to the passengers riding on the bus. If the driver of the car is found to be solely responsible for the accident, there may or may not be enough liability insurance for the driver to cover all the potential personal injury claims filed by the multiple injured passengers. If, however, the bus driver is found to be liable, the injured passengers would make a personal injury claim against the owner of the bus, which in this case is the County. Because government claims have specific deadlines and bus accident can require a detailed investigation to help determine who is at fault, it is helpful to contact a personal injury attorney as soon as possible.

Compensation received in a personal injury claim can be very helpful to those injured in a bus accident. In this case, those injured will already be facing expensive bills from ambulance rides and hospital stays to treat their injuries. In addition, they will likely have a long and often expensive recoveries. This type of medical care can get very expensive, very quickly.
