BMW Crashes into Apartment in Los Angeles Accident Killing 2, Injuring 1

Just before midnight on Tuesday, September 12, 2018, a white BMW crashed into an apartment building in a Los Angeles County car accident. The car accident that occurred near Golden Springs Drive and Diamond Bar Boulevard in Diamond Bar, killed two of the three male passengers. The third passenger survived the crash, but was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

According to CBS Los Angeles News, police say the BMW was “traveling at 100 mph whit it hit a curb, went airborne and hit the apartment building.” Pictures of the vehicle show that the car was completely destroyed as a result of the accident.

Fortunately, no one inside the apartment building was injured as a result of the crash. However, because there may be structural damage to the apartment building, and due to the ongoing police investigation, residents were permitted to gather their belongings but not permitted to sleep there.

Police will continue their investigation to determine who was driving the vehicle and what the exact cause of the accident was, although speed already seems to be a factor in the crash. If the passenger who died did not cause the collision, the family may be able to make a Los Angeles wrongful death claim against the driver that caused the collision (or his estate if he died in the accident). If the passenger who survived did not cause the collision, that passenger can bring a personal injury claim against the driver. A driver of a vehicle that causes an accident is responsible for his/her passenger’s safety.

An experienced California wrongful death and personal injury attorney can help those injured or the family members of those killed in this case to bring a proper claim against the insurance company of the driver responsible for this Los Angeles County accident. In an accident like this, damages recovered can help with the financial burden of funeral costs, medical bills, including ambulance, hospital and other bills that are almost certain to arise, loss of earnings and pain and suffering.
